New Experience: the Post Office & parcels

Well, I'm genuinely surprised... yesterday as I'm waiting for J & J to finish Taekwondo and Alina to finish yoga (both really cool after school activities held at the school) hubby calls... there is a mailman at the house. we evidently have a package at the post office (thus a wrinkly piece of paper in hand) but who lives at this address?? All names are given, thus to insure delivery of mail in the future. But we will need to go get our parcel as, evidently, the mail carrier does not carry parcels. That's ok.

It happens to be an expected package... one sent by the grandparents... that we had just the day before, declared it a mystery - to expect it when it showed up...containing very important items... pool toys and a sling shot to aid in eradication of annoying crows (not to kill them, mind you, just to harass them away from MY palm trees near the gate!)

They had dutifully recruited the help of some Indians at the post office to get the address just so on the US Postal Service form and included a request for tracking. Well, funny thing, it tracked to Miami then fell off the side of the earth!!!

Today, Kumar and I ventured out after a stop for coffee with my friend J, French Loaf for bread, and Ammaa Nanna for the essential groceries (no salami this time - but did get some pepperoni, maybe!)

Stopped 3 times for directions, one phone call, even waved down a "friend" on the road, a toll plaza and tahdah - we now know where the post office is!!! I was really surprised we didn't have to wait and wait!! I took an "innocent photo" of the box stacked in the corner (bummed it is fuzzy) - and as a result, rather disturbed the postal clerk, oops. It was just too good of a photo!! I could see the box, and the address (that's it, the second box teetering in the corner) - but it was addressed to hubby. Thankfully my registration papers had our address, and his name! Many stamps, handwriting the receipt and a few head bobbles ( and Kumar explaining this crazy American) we triumphantly left with giggles and a parcel!!

The parcel made it - squished but unopened. At some point in it's journey, twine and wax were added! Everyone is happy! thanks, Mom & Dad!!
