Flat Stanley

Dear Maya,

Flat Stanley hit the road today in Chennai, India to go to school with Alina! Here is a photo of her second grade class. Going to school here in Chennai is amazing. The school has many students from many countries. Alina's class has students from Australia, Korea, Spain, Finland, Japan and the United States! (Oh, her teacher is from Houston and went to school at Univ of Texas, in Austin!! ) The school is very big. It is bigger than the school in Austin, Texas but it goes from preschool through high school. It even has a swimming pool!

This is the village near our home as we drive from school to home. We miss walking to school and all of our friends in Texas. Our drive to school takes 30 minutes. We see lots of people. Most of the women wear colorful saris. We also see people on motorcycles, in tuk-tuks (rickshaws), on bicycles and in buses.

This is a photo of Alina, her sister and Priya. Priya helps us at our house. Indians who live near us like to decorate the ground in front of the house gates. And yes, Anna broke her arm... jumping off he monkey bars at school!

One place we like to go is the roof of our house. There is a huge terrace. One side looks to the rest of the village, the other side looks to the Bay of Bengal (just above the Indian Ocean).

We'll keep you posted on our weekend!
More later...
Hugs!
