We visit the hubby’s mom in Mississippi as often as we can. It’s a fairly easy drive from Austin, once you get out of Texas – HA!!! That of itself takes about 7 hours to get out of Texas(it all runs together!) Instead of hearing “are we there yet?” we hear, “Are we still in Texas??”
Going to Mississippi has a touch of culture shock for us… going back to simpler times, doing things just a bit different. My personal hardest culture shock is the lack of high speed internet – yes, I’m pitiful!!! There is dial-up but for some reason (read: impatient) I just simply do not get along with the internet connection. It gets as frustrated with me as much as I do with it…. I just click too soon. Ugh. It usually takes a good 2 days for me to honestly come to grips with it and RELAX. There is also the fact that we are 16 miles outside of any cell phone coverage. That is a hoot. Yes, we are in the country. Going to the grocery store has a new meaning when we are there… it is a real trip to town…with the side activity of getting to check your cell phone voicemail and text messages!
It is a nice visit… we reconnect with the simple things in life… read a book, play a board game...

Eat watermelon….
Swing on a rope swing…

listen to the frogs and
watch the birds
