Happy Birthday Jamie!!
What a birthday!! Move to a new country, wake up in a new house (not even a hotel!) and tahdah – you get a birthday cake – good thing Jamie brought the mix and icing in his suitcase! The true happiness of it all is that we successfully cooked it – meaning we found the other ingredients, pans were packed in the air shipment, figured out the ‘gas mark’ setting on the oven and the bad egg was cracked into a separate bowl first! (that’s a lesson to be learned – always crack your eggs into a separate bowl, first!) We celebrated the rest of the day by taking a math placement test at their new school, eating at Sparky’s American diner and trying to see a movie (another learning experience and we’ll try again another day!)
